HP recently revealed a new pair of headsets for gamers that come with a particularly interesting feature. While wearing the device, it keeps the ears of wearers cool through thermoelectrics, which basically conducts heat and directs it outward instead of keeping it stifled. What’s more, the amount of heat expelled can be controlled.
As Mashable notes, long gaming marathons that involve wearing a headset often result in incredibly sweaty ears. It doesn’t even matter if the headset is comfortable. The heat that’s trapped by the headset has nowhere to go, which leads to stifling. HP aims to change this with the Mindframe headset.
According to the company, users can control how much the headset will keep their ears cool via the Omen Command Center. This will help gamers prevent their ears from becoming too cool, which can also be uncomfortable.
In any case, while this innovative feature might be its biggest selling point, the Mindframe is still a headset. As such, it needed to meet many of the features necessary to make it appealing to gamers, and it seems to do just that.
The headset comes with a suspension headband that is self-adjusting and lightweight, which also makes it comfortable to wear, Engadget reports. It also comes with a noise-canceling microphone, 7.1 virtual surround sound and 3D spatial awareness.
With regards to the price, HP has not released any details just yet. The same goes for when the headset is going to become available to the public. However, it’s safe to assume that it’s going to launch sometime in the latter half of this year.
To pair with the new headsets, HP also announced its new lineup of Omen gaming laptops. The Omen 15 comes with a 15.6-inch screen, 8th generation i7 processors, and 32GB of RAM. With that much power coupled with the cooling capabilities of the Mindframe, gamers can stay frosty.
