“Grey’s Anatomy” season 15 has been described by showrunner Krista Vernoff as the “season of love.” But some fans might still be hoping for it to also be the season of epic comebacks, especially for Dr. April Kepner (Sarah Drew).
“Grey’s Anatomy” season 15 would have been the 10th installment that starred the trauma surgeon but her character was written out in season 14. But, at least, April got a lovely and happy ending with her onscreen lover, the paramedic Matthew Taylor (Justin Bruening).
For a brief recap, April is the ex-wife of Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) with whom she shares a child. While Drew has left the series, her character April is still alive in the storyline and is co-parenting with Jackson. So viewers should expect April’s name to be mentioned from time to time in “Grey’s Anatomy” season 15.
With April still, technically, alive, the question remains whether she will return in “Grey’s Anatomy” season 15 or in the installments that will follow. Drew recently weighed in on the possibilities.
"I'll never say never because they are my family. I still love everyone over there. I love that community and I still have such an incredible space in my heart for everyone over there,” Drew told Entertainment Tonight about April’s possible comeback in “Grey’s Anatomy” season 15.
The actress further explained that “because of how it went down,” it might be difficult to return as April. But she insisted on leaving a small window of possibility that it could happen in the future. However, it is very unlikely for her to join “Grey’s Anatomy” season 15 and a return later in the series is more impossible.
In related news, this week’s episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” season 15 will feature Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Teddy (Kim Raver) bonding over the secret of the latter’s pregnancy. Meredith tells Teddy in an episode preview that everything she thinks she knows is going to change, which is apparently a reference to becoming a mom.
Maggie (Kelly McCreary), who was the first to know and had been the sole bearer of Teddy’s secret, might finally crack in “Grey’s Anatomy” season 15 episode 5. Maggie hates keeping the truth about the pregnancy and the episode preview implies that she is seriously considering to tell Owen (Kevin McKidd) that Teddy is pregnant with his baby.
New episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” season 15 are released every Thursday. The fifth episode airs on Oct. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
