Global Geopolitical Series: Russia raises stake in Syrian conflict with threat of chaos

After the western alliance of the United Kingdom, the United States and France increased the stake in 7-year long Syrian civil war by conducting missile strikes in response to the alleged chemical attack by Bashar al Assad’s regime on Syrian suburb of Douma, Russia has also raised the stake in Syrian war by announcing that further strikes similar to the one carried out last week would lead to chaos in international relations.

Russian state-owned broadcaster RT reports that Russian President Putin made the comments during his phone call with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, https://www.rt.com/news/424224-putin-syria-airstrikes-world-chaos/ . The comments came after the United States’ UN envoy Nikki Haley said that the U.S. might announce additional sanctions on Russia on Monday, which later was discarded by the President. Russia is also reportedly planning to export its advanced missile defense system S-300 in Syria to prevent further damage from a similar attack by the western alliance. Currently, Soviet-made S-125, S-200, Buk, Kvadrat and Osa systems are deployed in Syria and with the help of those defense systems, Syria was reportedly able to intercept almost 70 percent of the missiles fired by western forces.
