The Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov is set to appear for diplomatic talks in the White House for the first time in four years. It is yet another sign that the relationship between the United States of America and Russia is improving under the newly elected president Donald Trump after it hit the lowest point since the cold war under the Obama administration. It is also important to note that Russia and the United States seem to be getting along well despite the missile attack by the United States on Syria last month that drew sharp criticism from Kremlin.
According to the White House, President Donald Trump will host Russia’s top diplomat Sergei Lavrov for talks at the White House on Wednesday, his highest-level encounter with a Russian official since taking office. The two men will meet in the Oval Office at 10:30 am (14:30 GMT). The Russian foreign minister will also meet his counterpart, Rex Tillerson.
Recently, the United States and Russia agreed to the creation of four different safe zones in Syria while talks continue to establish a lasting peace in the region.
