The standalone online co-op mode for “Ghost of Tsushima” has been finally unveiled and developers confirm that it will arrive with different game modes. It appears that the ultimate challenge comes from a four-player raid where gamers will be introduced to a new “brutal, terrifying enemy.”
‘Ghost of Tsushima: Legends’ gameplay
Players can join the “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” in groups of two to four players. In a blog post officially announcing the multiplayer mode, it is explained that teams of two will be sent to a storied campaign with missions that get difficult as the players progress.
Developers emphasized that “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” offers a “separate” story and focus than the adventure of Jin in the base game. But they also mentioned the premise of the Story missions in multiplayer was built “on the foundation of combat from the single-player campaign.”
Those going in as a four-player team will be subjected to wave-based Survival missions that include fighting new enemies. Overall, “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” is promised to introduce more locations and enemies that are based on Japanese mythology and folktales. So players should not be surprised to see heavy themes of supernatural powers in the online multiplayer. These two tiers of gameplay should prepare the gamers for the four-player raid. Sucker Punch Productions has yet to reveal more details about this but it is suggested to include a boss enemy and will be set in an all-new realm.
Players can choose among four classes, namely the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, and Assassin. Like other co-op games, each class in “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” has unique abilities that will be revealed once the separate mode is closer to its release date.
‘Ghost of Tsushima: Legends’ release date
The announcement of “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” did not include a specific release date. But the online co-op gameplay is confirmed to go live later this year.
“Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” will arrive as a free content update but gamers will still need to purchase the base game. They can choose to enter the games with their friends or join a team of random players through online matchmaking. The action-adventure was released last July exclusively on PlayStation 4 and will also be playable on the PlayStation 5 through backward compatibility.
