The latest patch for “Genshin Impact” was just released a few weeks ago, and, naturally, fans of the game are already looking forward to the possible features to be released in future updates. Recent leaks suggest that developer miHoYo could be working on unlocking another region that has been mentioned several times in the game -- Sumeru.

While players are still completing quests in the current versions of the game, the rumor mill is already getting information about the next patches. A post filled with “Genshin Impact” leaks was originally shared on Discord and made its way to Reddit recently, giving more details about the yet-to-be-revealed region of Sumeru.

The said leak claims that Sumeru is located northeast of the Dandelion Sea and that its city is closest to The Chasm. To give fans more idea of how close they are, the same source claimed that “Genshin Impact” players may be able to reach Sumeru by going past The Chasm.

The adventure leading players into The Chasm and onto Sumeru will reportedly involve Yaoyao. “Sailing westward from the waypoint on the left side of Watatsumi Island, you will reach Sumeru’s port,” the “Genshin Impact” leak reads.

As mentioned, this is not the first time “Genshin Impact” fans have heard about Sumeru both officially and through leaks. So avid fans of the game likely know a thing or two about Sumeru at this point.

Previously released lore and in-game dialogues have revealed that Lesser Lord Kusanali -- the youngest member of The Seven -- is the goddess who rules over Sumeru. She is also known as the God of Wisdom, which could be a hint at the strengths of the region. It is also worth noting that the majority of “Genshin Impact” NPCs introduced to have originated from Sumeru are researchers and authors, including Soraya, Hosseini, Masudi, and Kaushik.

“Genshin Impact” players may have to wait a few more months for Sumeru to be unlocked. A separate leak claimed that the new region would be unlocked in August. This was corroborated by the post shared on Reddit, which noted that the region is planned to be unveiled in summer as part of the game’s version 2.9.
