When HBO released a set of photos for the upcoming Season 7 of the hit fantasy drama “Game of Thrones,” a lot of the fans were excited that finally, they will be seeing a new dynamic in the relationship between incestuous siblings Cersei (Lena Headey) and Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).
The photo that sparked the excitement was a photo taken inside the chamber of the Iron Throne. A somber-dressed Cersei is seen sitting on the Iron Throne, wearing the crown. Jaime, on the other side, appears to be fulfilling his promise to the family, which is to always stand with the Lannister clan. He is seen in full battle gear beside his sister in solidarity. But Express UK said the fans noted the huge sword he carries in his hilt, Widow’s Wail, could very well be the sign that he is indeed the Kingslayer, and that he will be the hand that will bring down Cersei.
Coster-Waldau finally responded to that insane theory in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. He said, "I heard that theory, and it absolutely makes sense. It would be a perfect little nod. But who knows? You'll have to watch the show [laughs]. It's a good theory. I always thought maybe it's too neat, but who knows."
This seems likely, if you’re going to based it on recent cast payroll news. Gizmodo reported that Coster-Waldau, Headey, Peter Dinklage (Tyrion), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targayen) have signed new contracts to appear in the eighth and final seasons of “Game of Thrones.” Although it’s easy to point out that they’ll get massive paychecks for remaining in the series well after Season 7, it could indicate that the characters they play all survive until the final season.
