FxWirePro: Swedish Krona rallies to 1-week peak on upbeat growth data

  • The Swedish Krona rallied to a 3-week high following the release of upbeat economic growth data.
     
  • Sweden's gross domestic product grew by 4.3 percent in the three months to September, trying to recover from the historic slump of 8.6 percent seen in the second quarter, a preliminary estimate showed. Year-on-year, the economy shrank by 3.5 percent in the third quarter, easing from a record contraction of 8.2 percent in the previous period.
     
  • Separate data showed industrial production in Sweden decreased 2.40 percent in September over the same month in the previous year, while new orders increased to 112.70 points in September from 95.80 points in August.
     
  • Moreover, weakness in the greenback against a basket of currencies further supported the Swedish currency. 
     
  • The greenback against a basket of currencies traded 0.5 percent down at 92.93, having touched a low of 92.92 earlier, its lowest since October 27
     
  • USD/SEK trades 0.5 percent lower at 8.7250, having hit a low of 8.7203 earlier, its lowest since October 28.
     
  • Immediate resistance is located at 8.8246 (21-EMA), any close above could take it above 8.8531 (55-EMA). 
     
  • On the lower side, support is seen at 8.7012, break below could take it till 8.6902.
