‘Frozen 2’ Release Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Leaked Image Purports to be the Synopsis of Upcoming Sequel

“Frozen 2” is still several months away and news regarding the sequel has been scarce as of late. However, a new image making its round on the web claims that the synopsis of the second film has been leaked.

The image depicts Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell) on an autumn background with russet leaves drifting across their figures. The leak supposedly came from a Russian calendar, which was accompanied with a synopsis for “Frozen 2.”

As Instagram user the.cursed.prince would have it, Elsa, Anna, Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and Olaf (Josh Gad) are “going far in the forest to know the truth about some ancient mystery of their kingdom.” But, since Disney hasn’t announced anything yet, it’s best to take this information with a grain of salt. There are a lot of speculations out there for “Frozen 2” and it’s best to file this one under the rumor category.

After all, Disney is quite protective of the plotlines for its films, especially for a franchise that grossed $1.219 billion at the box office. Other assumptions for “Frozen 2” suggests that the film will have a darker tone. This assumption is based on the fact that Nov. 22 – the release date of the sequel – is reserved for films that contain an adult narrative.

“Twilight,” “Hunger Games,” and “Harry Potter” have all hit the big screen around this same date. And since all three have dealt with death at some point during their respective storylines, some have assumed that “Frozen 2” will be handled similarly. Of course, a movie’s schedule hardly confirms this speculation but it’s still an intriguing narrative to consider.

This is doubly true since a grim tone for “Frozen 2” could potentially open up new avenues for the film and where its story is headed. There’s also the fact that other animated movies that donned a grim theme saw quite the success at the box office.

One such example can be observed in “How To Train Your Dragon 2,” where Toothless inadvertently killed Stoic the Vast (Gerard Butler). Although Stoic’s death was heartbreaking, it provided a lot of emotional weight to the film’s story and caused a lot of free marketing for the movie. Returning to the supposed leaked image of “Frozen 2," people should simply dismiss it as a calendar and nothing more. After all, a Little Green Man can be seen behind the sisters. It’s unlikely that a crossover between “Frozen 2” and the “Toy Story” franchise will be happening anytime soon -- if it happens at all.
