For anyone wondering why “Frozen Fever” has once again taken over the web, this is because a trailer for “Frozen 2” was recently released. It would appear that the hype for the sequel is even bigger than the first one, if that was possible, with many fans passionately looking forward to Elsa and Anna’s new adventure. Disney has clearly learned some new tricks with how it teases fans with its trailers, as well.
There is an old rule on the web, when it comes to trailers, that boils down to creating interest without giving the story away. Based on the “Frozen 2” clip below, it would appear that Disney has gotten the memo because fans are intrigued but have no idea what’s going on. This didn’t stop many from making up theories, though, with ScreenRant going for the “mom had powers too” route.
Looking into the trailer first, the teaser opens with Elsa trying to overcome huge waves by the beach using her powers. As for why, no one seems to know the answer. The next scenes are basically an amalgamation of confusing but ultimately intriguing images of new lands, characters, and even powers. This is where the “Frozen 2” theory about the late queen having powers as well comes in.
As ScreenRant points out, the clip features new characters in the form of a girl with auburn hair and a blond boy. The former is dressed casually while the latter appears to be wearing clothes fit for royalty. Based on the brief appearance of Elsa and Anna’s parents in the first movie, the resemblance is unmistakable. The fact that the girl seems to be displaying powers in the “Frozen 2” trailer is indicative of this fact, as well.
If the sisters’ mother did have an ability, this could finally answer the question of why Elsa was born with powers. She would not have been cursed since the condition would have been hereditary. Whatever the case may be, viewers will find out when “Frozen 2” premieres on Nov. 22.
