What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear that a paintball player is now a YouTube sensation? You might say that the guy loves to share paintball tips on his YouTube channel because thousands of people love the sport. But Jairo Escobar isn't like that. He makes comedic content, viral challenges, and tag videos. And his engaging content is so popular that he has more than 250,000 subscribers.
It isn't every day that a guy who comes from Puerto Ordaz, Bolivar, Venezuela, becomes a YouTube star at 21 years old. But Escobar made the unthinkable possible.
Escobar's paintball journey
Only a handful of Escobar's fans know that he was a D3 ranked professional paintball player in Venezuela. Apart from making YouTube and Instagram content for his accounts, including "Jairon558," "Toronto Party Commission," and "RealJairoEscobar," Escobar was also enthusiastic about playing paintball from a young age. He had the necessary gears and would often play paintball the whole day with his friends. But moving to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 2017 put a stop to his paintball career. He chose content creation on YouTube over paintball. But he still loved the game like crazy.
Everyone thought that Escobar had retired from paintball for good. But he proved everyone wrong. Escobar made a surprise comeback into paintball in 2020. When asked about his unexpected return, Escobar said, "I want to get ready for the 2021 season of the Ontario Paintball League. My friends think you can take Escobar away from paintball, but you can't take paintball away from Escobar. And so, I'm gearing up for the new season, and I hope not to make a fool of myself."
Escobar is a living example to everyone who quit their passion and invested time in making money. He is someone who doesn't give up on his love quickly.
Escobar learned from a young age that YouTube was a platform where his expertise would help to earn money. But he didn't invest all his time there. Escobar started developing YouTube content in 2012. Simultaneously, he also played paintball so that he could become a professional. Now, with more than 250,000 subscribers, he hopes to live up to their expectations, as they would join him live from different countries from their television sets.
Escobar's YouTube success
Escobar's YouTube success was long overdue. He was already an excellent content producer for different channels and accounts on YouTube and Instagram. But he didn't have a channel dedicated to his name. He decided to move to Ontario in 2017 and make YouTube videos from there. His decision was an excellent one as it took only a couple of years to reach 250,000 subscribers and become the most viewed Latino YouTuber based out of Toronto.
Escobar's journey so far is proof that you should stick to your passion no matter how much money you earn. You never know when your love can also become a revenue stream. It's only a matter of time before you see Escobar as one of the top players in the Ontario Paintball League.
