French industrial production set to improve

In Europe, French industrial production is set to improve for the second month in a row, rising by another 0.5% mom in January.

The Eurogroup did not make any material decision on Greece on Monday but announced that the discussion with the Institutions will start on Wednesday in Brussels - after two non-constructive weeks.

Societe Generale notes in a report on Tuesday:

  • After the surge in December's industrial production, we expect the French Institute of Statistics (INSEE) to report that industrial activity rose by another 0.5% mom in January (0.9% yoy).
  • Manufacturing output is expected to have risen by 0.2% over the same period. The ECB will publish the consolidated financial statement of the Eurosystem and Yves Mersch will be speaking later today.
