At this point, there’s no denying that Fortnite Battle Royale is a global phenomenon that is kicking up a storm of enthusiasm and excitement among fans of the 100-player PVP genre. However, one gamer is an example of just how powerful the draw of the game can be when he finished a session right in the middle of a tornado.

Recently, a tornado going at 217km/h caused widespread devastation in Greensboro, North Carolina, which prompted the local government to issue a state of emergency, Kotaku reports. In the midst of the natural incident, one teen by the name of Anton Williams decided to pass the time by continuing to play Fortnite Battle Royale, which is amazing on so many different levels.

For one thing, it’s almost difficult to fathom that an internet connection can be maintained in the middle of a tornado. Fortnite Battle Royale is an online game, after all.

However, it’s the fact that Williams was able to continue playing even as a massive weather occurrence that has left thousands without power and houses destroyed that is the most surprising of all. Typically, people would be huddled in the basement or nailing down doors and windows, at that point.

Speaking to WXII 12, the teen explained why he had decided to keep playing despite the obvious danger of a giant tornado. His answer is something that many hardcore gamers might just be able to sympathize with.

"I was sitting at home and I was playing Fortnite and all the sudden I just heard a bunch of noise. I looked out the window and I started seeing the roofs come off the houses in front of me. Then I sat back down because I only had a couple of people left in my game. I was going to try to finish the game," Williams said.
