In a rather unexpected twist, a crossover between Final Fantasy XV and Assassin’s Creed: Origins was just announced, where Square Enix and Ubisoft will be cooperating to bring some elements of both games over to each other. In the case of the JRPG, Noctis and the gang will be getting some new outfits and perhaps some new mechanics.
As GameSpot reports, FFXV is getting plenty of free updates and support from its developers since its release. In the crossover event between the two games, players can expect quite a few exciting new contents.
For one thing, there’s the Assassin’s Festival, which will be held in Lestallum. It’s a limited-time event, which will involve mini-games as well as a fine collection of exclusive items. Players who are interested in taking part will definitely need to keep this festival in mind, especially since it will actually allow the game’s characters to play as assassins. They could even perform the iconic “Leap of Faith” action.
Those who have seen Origin’s videos will also be delighted to know that Noctis and his friends will be able to wear the Medjay assassin robes featured in the clips. A Master Assassin’s Robes can even be obtained by getting a Dream Egg. Players simply need to participate in the Moogle Chocobo Carnival.
As to how this even ended up happening, SlashGear reports that it was due to the developers of both titles being fans of the games. The cooperation actually dates back to three years ago when both games were featured during the Tokyo Game Show. As Ashraf Ismail, game director at Ubisoft said, the developers have huge respect for each other and the properties.
“This collaboration is the result of being huge fans,” Ismail said. “There’s a lot of respect between the two teams and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the opportunity to pay homage to each other’s work.”
