“Fallout 76” has been confirmed by Bethesda to eventually support mods once the private servers are up. However, it would appear that some players simply could not wait that long have since been messing around with the beta. This has resulted in inventive changes made to the game and could prove quite disastrous for the other players.
The beta for “Fallout 76” is intended to be a testing ground for players to push the game to the limit and see if the developers can cope with the stress that this would impose. What these developers may not have been counting on, however, are hardheaded players who are modding the game already. As a report by Eurogamer points out, it only took several hours for modders to figure out how to mess with the game.
So far, the only changes that have been made are limited to cosmetic. Examples include changing the color of their character’s hair to any color they like and turning vault suits black instead of blue. As to how these modders are actually able to accomplish such feats in “Fallout 76,” it would appear that “Fallout 4’s” mod kit is to blame.
This is according to one of the modders named Neheer who said that "the core of ‘Fallout 76’ is basically identical to ‘Fallout 4’". On that note, players who might be thinking of using these mods in the game when it launches might want to hold off on that. As Comic Book notes, even the modders are cautioning other players against using the files once the online title officially launches.
When “Fallout 76” comes out on Nov. 14, the use of mods might be considered by Bethesda as cheating. This could then lead to players getting banned from the game due to a simple misunderstanding. As such, players should hold off on using mods until the company’s position on the practice is clarified.
