Euro area headline inflation rises slightly in June

The euro area headline inflation accelerated slightly in June. According to Eurostat, the consumer price inflation accelerated to 1.3 percent year-on-year from May’s 1.2 percent. Sequentially, the headline inflation accelerated to 0.2 percent from 0.1 percent.

The lowest annual rates were seen in Greece and Cyprus. The highest annual rates were seen in Latvia. Compared with May, annual inflation dropped in a few states.

Services contributed the most to the headline inflation, adding 0.73 percentage points to the headline rate. Food, alcohol & tobacco contributed 0.30 percentage points. Meanwhile, energy and non-energy industrial goods added 0.30 percentage points and 0.07 percentage points, respectively.

Inflation measured by HICP came in at 1.3 percent on a year-on-year basis. Sequentially, it rose 0.2 percent.
