“Empire” season 5 episode 10 will not air until next year. And fans will most likely dread the wait in the upcoming months after a recent revelation that shook the Lyon family like never before. But this is also the time to form theories on who is going to die this season.
Over the years, Fox’s musical drama has had very long gaps between its fall finale and its return in spring. This format is still in place for the current series installment, which means fans will have to wait for more than a couple of months before seeing “Empire” season 5 episode 10.
In seasons 2 to 4, the show’s fall finale were commonly scheduled within the first half of December only for the show to return sometime in the second half of March the following year. This means “Empire” season 5 episode 10 is most likely going to air in March 2019 as well.
It is somehow a good thing especially for the current season with the lingering mystery of someone’s death. It can be recalled that the fifth season premiere closed with a scene of Lucious (Terrence Howard) mourning over a coffin. Will the identity of this character be revealed in “Empire” season 5 episode 10?
The most possible answer is no. Earlier this year, showrunner Brett Mahoney confirmed that whoever ends up in that coffin will only be revealed in the finale and not in “Empire” season 5 episode 10. However, with half of the episodes out, fans have formulated the theory that Andre (Trai Byers) could end up dead in the end.
In the brief promo video for “Empire” season 5 episode 10, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is seen warning Lucious about someone forcing them to pay for all the “bad things” they did. Interestingly, Cookie specifically tells the Lyon patriarch that it could be someone who calls him dad.
Months before “Empire” season 5 episode 10 airs, Mahoney is already confronted with this theory. The showrunner told TVLine that it “could be” an accurate guess before adding that viewers still have a lot more to learn from the upcoming episodes next year. But to further stir the pot, Mahoney also said, “Andre will face life and death circumstances that will rock the entire Lyon family.”
