The Tesla Cyberquads ATV for Kids has been recalled for not meeting the US federal safety standards.
As the Cyberquad meets the legal definition of a “youth ATV.” it’s required to meet safety standards, such as having mechanical suspension and maximum tire pressure, and safety training and information by the seller.
The ATV safety standards are meant to reduce crash and injury hazards that would prevent serious injury or death.
Owners of the Radio Flyer-made ATV are being offered a full refund after they disable the electric all-terrain vehicle.
Radio Flyer said the Cyberquad for Kids is intended as a toy for riders aged eight and older.
Modeled after Tesla’s four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle, the $1,900 worth toy version quickly sold out when it went for sale in December 2021. The toy was designed to go as fast as 10 miles an hour.
Although made by Radio Flyer, which has an exclusive license for Tesla-themed ride-on toys, the Cyberquad for Kids was available only on Tesla’s website. About 5,000 of them were sold.
