In a recent article on Electrek, a source who reportedly knows certain details pertaining to one of Tesla’s next projects revealed that it was related to music streaming. Think iTunes but owned by the company that also made the car it’s installed in. However, when Elon Musk got wind of the report, he immediately smacked it down and called it “a joke.”
Musk made the denial through Twitter, where he said that Tesla apparently does not have something called “TTunes”. It seems the publication’s source who is code-named Green got this part wrong. Then again, it might be worth noting how Musk worded his response since it could be indicative of something else.

Now, this could either mean that Tesla does not have a service called “TTunes” or it could mean that the company is creating a music streaming services, but it’s just not called “TTunes”. Either way, it would be a huge boon for Tesla customers to finally have an audio service that’s completely integrated into its framework.
Right now, Tesla owners have to settle for a service called Slacker to give them all of the music streaming services they need, Futurism reports. Apparently, a lot of them are not really happy about this. Tesla developing its own music platform is not exactly a weird idea either since reports have been circulating that the company’s executives have been talking with a few music industry bigwigs for a while now.
At this point, it’s difficult to pin down exactly what Tesla has planned for its cars, at least, as far as the audio component is concerned. Listening to music has always been part of the driving experience, even if the people behind the wheel aren’t the ones doing the driving. This is obviously an important aspect to address.
