Renegade tech figure Elon Musk already disrupted several industries in his quest to make the world a cleaner, better place to live in. Last week, the billionaire just unveiled an image that looks like the Semi truck that Tesla is working on. With that simple peek, analysts are already predicting Musk to shake up several industries.
Musk made the reveal during the TED Talk held at Vancouver, Canada last Friday, Fortune reports. It was nothing more than a picture of a structure shrouded in shadow against a backdrop of a darkening sky, but there’s no mistaking what it is.

According to what Musk has revealed about the all-electric Semi truck so far, it’s going to be a hauler that drives almost like one of the luxury cars that Tesla is selling. The billionaire described it as a “spry” set of wheels, which isn’t really an adjective that people would use when looking at a freighter. The vehicle is set to be unveiled in September, but the trucking industry is already abuzz with talk.
As Tech Republic points out, Tesla’s move into the trucking space presents the industry with a three-tier disruption issue, which can affect different markets that have to do with Semi trucks. Specifically, Tesla would be stepping on the toes of the Builders, the Energy Sector, and the Drivers.
Tesla is already a freight train of a company coming at traditional firms at high speeds and the only things that they can do are either get out of the way or adapt. The Builders are going to have a hard time doing the latter due to technical and technological limitations. The Energy Sector might fare better, but too many of them are slow at actually shifting to renewable energy.
Finally, Musk has already revealed that the trucks are likely going to have autonomous driving capabilities. If this is the case, a lot of truck drivers are going to lose their jobs once the logistics industry starts adopting Tesla’s vehicles.
