With not much update on the state of the “Elden Ring” development, many fans were under the impression that it could still be years away from being launched. However, a video game leaker recently hinted that FromSoftware’s next big project has actually been planned to be released in 2021.
‘Elden Ring’ release date could be happening much sooner than fans think
In an online poll posted in a forum on ResetEra (via AltChar), video game fans were asked which game they think would be released in 2021. “Elden Ring” was one of the four choices, but did not garner the highest vote. An info leaker known as taepoppuri commented in the same discussion that the elusive game is “absolutely” getting released in 2021.
They added that “Elden Ring” could even be released in “early 2021.” Judging from their follow-up statements, it appears that what they meant with “early 2021” is sometime in the first half of the year. Taepoppuri added that FromSoftware originally planned for the game to be launched in March 2021, but the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic reportedly disrupted the developer’s timeline and has delayed the game by two to three months, which is between May and June.
Someone in the thread who may have not been aware of taepoppuri’s track record asked another well-known video game leaker, Nibel, to weigh in on the claimed “Elden Ring” release window. While Nibel did not definitively confirm the tip, Nibel backed his fellow leaker saying taepoppuri “has a good source.”
‘Elden Ring’ presentation at The Game Awards 2020?
If “Elden Ring” were to be released in the first half of 2021, it would be remiss for FromSoftware to let 2020 finish without releasing new teasers and updates. This renewed hope among fans that the game could be one of the presentations lined up for The Game Awards 2020.
The event has been known as the event to close the year for the video game industry, so its stage is usually the top choice for developers and publishers for a showcase or any major announcements. However, note that there is no solid evidence to support this speculation, so those who are eager to get new “Elden Ring” content should manage their expectations when they watch The Game Awards on Thursday, Dec. 10.
