FromSoftware broke its silence and subtly confirmed that it is still working on “Elden Ring.” In an online post, the developer thanked fans for their “enthusiasm” on the upcoming game.
‘Elden Ring’ release date, development status
The video game studio has yet to provide a concrete update about the "Elden Ring" since its announcement. Additionally, there have been recurring rumors that its development has been facing issues leading fans to speculate on the project’s potential cancellation or delay.
It also does not help quash the rumors that FromSoftware has yet to make an appearance on any virtual video game convention or event that happened this year. However, the developer ended all worries with one tweet recently.
FromSoftware announced the release of an update for “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” last week. In a reply to its own tweet, the developer also addressed fans waiting for the release of “Elden Ring.” “We also greatly appreciate all the enthusiasm and support shown for ‘ELDEN RING’, our next Dark Fantasy Action RPG,” FromSoftware wrote. “We hope you look forward to it.”

Unfortunately, it still does not say at what point FromSoftware currently is in the “Elden Ring” development. The latest statement does not provide any hints at the game’s release window as well, but it does tell fans that the game is still in the pipeline.
‘Elden Ring’ gameplay, plot: What to expect
“Elden Ring” is announced as a third-person action RPG, but director Hidetaka Miyazaki has previously mentioned that it will differ from “Sekiro” because the upcoming game will rely more on the RPG elements. Since the game will lean more into its RPG aspect, Miyazaki also confirmed that the game will feature character customization options.
Not much is known about the “Elden Ring’s” gameplay plot other than it will feature a dark fantasy role. Miyazaki is also very much involved in crafting the story, but another reason the game has been a hit for fans of the genre is the involvement of best-selling author George R.R. Martin in its development. “The actual collaboration itself begun with Mr. Martin ever so politely confirming what sorts of themes, ideas as well as many game-related aspects I had envisioned for the game,” Miyazaki told Bandai Namco’s Sam Wilkinson in a 2019 interview for Xbox Wire.
