Developer Techland is expanding the latest DLC of “Dying Light” with a new free update released Monday. Aside from the new weapons and a new area to explore, the latest add-on also introduces a new story mode.
The “Dying Light: Hellraid - The Prisoner” update will introduce new areas to explore that are situated in the familiar location of Ba’al Temple. Based on the release trailer, it appears that the main mission in the new story is to rescue a powerful mage named Lucius.
The developers did not give that many clues, though, as to why Lucius is imprisoned. But it is likely one of the surprises that await fans once they dive into the new “Dying Light” content. Techland also confirmed that the story of the latest DLC does not end here. “We’ll be adding more quests to the story mode with future updates as we gradually unveil the plot,” the developers wrote.
The trailer also teased that there will be a new enemy in the “Dying Light” update, which is only fitting since players are about to explore new areas. On the bright side, they will be given new weapons to ward off the undead, including a long-range bow called Corrupted Justice Bow and a two-handed hammer fittingly called Bonecruncher for close-quarters combat.
A new raid mode is also going live with the update, while Techland will also introduce a new Hellraid Rank in “Dying Light.” Fans should also keep their eyes open to spot a Stamina Potion in the game.
Aside from the new content, the “Dying Light” update will also bring several improvements. Techland has enhanced the game’s lighting. Minimap and balance changes are also included in the patch.
The DLC is free for those who have the base game and the Hellraid expansion. The good news, especially for PC gamers, is “Dying Light” and its DLCs and expansion are currently available with huge discounts on Steam. Getting the “Dying Light: Hellraid
- The Prisoner” DLC should be one of the best ways to pass the time while fans wait for the release of “Dying Light 2” on Dec. 7.
