Arguably one of the greatest role-playing video games in the modern era, Larian Studio’s critically-acclaimed Divinity Original Sin 2 (DOS2) is set to come to the Xbox One next week. This is an exciting development because it means that console players will finally get to spend up to 60 hours customizing their characters and then 200 more hours getting through the tutorial section.
For those who didn’t get the reference made above, DOS2 is known for offering so many options and for being so detailed that it takes forever to even just start the game with the right character. Their traits, backstories, abilities, skills, and weapons need to all be chosen carefully because they will all affect the outcome of the game. Thanks to Xbox Game Preview, Xbox One players can experience this first-hand soon enough, Comicbook.com reports.
On that note, this confirmation was hardly a surprise since the game was always slated for release on console, both for the PS4 and Xbox One. It’s just that Xbox players will get their hands on the game first and owners of Sony’s console will likely have to wait until August of this year or thereabouts.
Scoring a 93 on Metacritic, it’s safe to say that DOS2 absolutely smashed all expectations that were already pretty high, to begin with, thanks to 2014’s DOS1. What’s more, the game was funded entirely via crowd funding through its Kickstarter page, DualShockers notes, which hit its intended goal within a period of twelve hours.
With a rabid fan base backing it up and one of the most consumer-friendly and dedicated video game development studios creating it, it’s really no surprise that DOS2 performed as well as it did. Those who haven’t tried the game and have PC gaming rigs can check it out via Steam and Amazon right now.
