Digital Currency Revolution Series: Gemini Designates Ex-Goldman Sachs Executive As MD For APAC Region

The renowned crypto-exchange and custodian, ‘Gemini’ appears to be expanding into Asia Pacific region on the back of its European target.

Winklevoss bros owned company has now hired the former Goldman Sachs executive in Singapore as managing director for Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

Gemini Trust Co. LLC, a cryptocurrency exchange and custodian, announced the appointment of Jeremy Ng as the Head of Asia Pacific Region and is also intending to obtain license from the MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) under the newly formed ‘Payment Services Act’. They file for the same as part of its global expansion strategy.

While Ng would be entrusted for modeling and influencing Gemini's overall strategy in the region, including designing & developing products, and charting the course for hierarchal operations. He will also manage hiring as his team builds out its physical presence in Singapore. Mr. Ng will be based in Singapore and report directly to Gemini's President, Cameron Winklevoss.

"Southeast Asia is an important part of the crypto movement. The Monetary Authority of Singapore has developed thoughtful regulation that is paving the way for further adoption and innovation. We look forward to building a presence in this major Fintech hub and the Asia Pacific region with Jeremy leading the way,"said Cameron Winklevoss, President of Gemini.

Ng has an extensive experience in financial services domain, as Asia CEO at Leonteq, and also carries experience at the reputed global investment banks, such as,  Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and Morgan Stanley across Hong Kong and Singapore regions.

Gemini has been making strategic business decisions as part of their objective of business expansion and this would be the latest edition.

Very recently, Samsung integrates Gemini in the Samsung Blockchain Wallet, with an objective of enabling their users to transfer their holdings from Gemini into self-custody.

Elsewhere, Raiz Invest, who happens to be an Australia’s leading micro-investing app partners with Gemini for new investment portfolio.

The Winklevoss twins’ crypto exchange continues its global expansion with this appointment of a Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region.
