MENLO PARK, Calif., Oct. 25, 2017 -- Deliv, a leader in the same day delivery space, today announced that Giant Eagle has selected Deliv to power scheduled home delivery for its customers. Giant Eagle is initially rolling out the Deliv Fresh service in four markets: Columbus, Cleveland, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh. Deliv continues to expand its national reach with this latest partnership, increasing their presence to 35 markets and 1400+ cities.
Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle, one of the 40 largest privately-held and family-operated companies in the United States, joins numerous grocers, meal services, and other perishable retail leaders across the country who use Deliv Fresh to deliver on customers’ growing demands and expectations for rapid grocery delivery. Deliv Fresh also serves companies like FoodKick by FreshDirect, GetFedNYC, GreenBlender, Plated, BloomThat, The Cheese Store of Silverlake, Plum Market and Eataly Chicago, among many others.
"Giant Eagle first launched our online ordering and curbside pickup service during the summer of 2013, and today thousands of area customers place orders with us each month," said Giant Eagle Director of Communications Dan Donovan. "We are excited to take this unique convenience to the next level with an innovative home delivery solution, giving customers access to nearly our entire store without ever having to leave home.”
To take advantage of scheduled delivery from Giant Eagle, shoppers simply order items online via desktop or mobile from gianteagle.com and select a one-hour delivery window at checkout. Giant Eagle associates pick and pack the orders and Deliv drivers deliver within the specified delivery window. Shoppers receive a notification when the delivery is on its way, and a signature is required at pickup and delivery so that no grocery items are left unattended, ensuring that they always remain fresh. Scheduled deliveries run from 8am-8pm Monday through Sunday.
With online grocery sales forecasted to account for as much as 20 percent of the one trillion dollar grocery market in 2025, it’s clear that consumer shopping habits are changing—and grocers need to keep pace. Giant Eagle’s Curbside Express has made them an early adopter of the convenient shopping experience and their latest partnership with Deliv extends that effort all the way to customers’ doors.
“Giant Eagle has been on the forefront of the convenient shopping experience. We couldn't be more excited to build on that experience and help meet the growing expectations of consumers” said Daphne Carmeli, Deliv CEO and co-founder. “We're confident this new partnership will keep Giant Eagle as a leader in the increasingly competitive grocer industry.”
Deliv is widely recognized as one of the most successful same day, last mile delivery services, servicing thousands of retailers and businesses including Macy’s, Best Buy, Office Depot and PetSmart in addition to numerous grocers and beer, wine, and spirit beverage retailers.
