BURBANK, Calif., Aug. 16, 2017 -- Condusiv® Technologies, the world leader in software-only storage performance solutions, today released results from its 2017 I/O Performance Survey of over 1,400 IT Professionals, the industry’s largest performance survey of its kind, revealing the latest trends in applications that are driving on-premises performance demands and how IT Professionals are responding.
“This is our 3rd annual I/O Performance Survey, and what we find most interesting is that organizations are still struggling to get the full lifecycle from their backend storage as the growth of I/O continues to outpace expectations. Most alarming is that 27% of all organizations are currently getting user complaints related to sluggish performance from their MS-SQL applications. These organizations either find themselves simply living with these performance issues until the next budget cycle where storage CapEx purchases were planned, or pull the money away from other IT initiatives to make large and unplanned server and/or storage purchases just to ‘keep the lights on’,” said Brian Morin, SVP Sales & Marketing, Condusiv Technologies.
The 21 question survey excludes organizations with fewer than 100 employees and encompasses 87 pages to include the optional open responses to several questions. This allows the reader to dive deeply into any one question, such as identifying the two most performance intensive applications each organization supports.
“As much as organizations continue to reactively respond to performance challenges by purchasing expensive new server and storage hardware, our V-locity® I/O reduction software offers a far more efficient path by guaranteeing to solve any application performance challenges on your existing hardware infrastructure. This means organizations are able to get the performance they need, achieve the full lifecycle of their storage hardware, and only upgrade their storage backend for capacity reasons instead of performance reasons,” said Morin.
