There’s still some confusion regarding “Code Geass” Season 3 and whether or not it’s going to come out this February. To make matters clear, there will be no third installment and the upcoming release is going to be a film, Comicbook reported.
What’s more, the movie will not follow the plotline of the series as opposed to when the creators opted to make a “Code Geass” Season 3. So what can fans expect from this film and what changes have they made about events that occurred? Perhaps the biggest change that audiences should get ready for is that Shirley is alive and well.
This is an important divergence from the series given that Shirley’s death had a major impact on Lelouch. It’s this drastic turn of events that forced Lelouch to destroy and not capture the Code Geass order. While “Code Geass” Season 3 would’ve kept Shirley dead to drive Lelouch forward, the film is opting to keep her alive for a supposedly major reason.
Apparently, Shirley will play a major role in the revival of Lelouch. What’s more, Shirley is also speculated to get a Geass of her own courtesy of C2, Foxen Anime reported. And at the end of the film, this rumor contends that Shirley will eventually die yet again. So no, “Code Geass” Season 3 will not be happening and the film will be altering events that occurred in the series.
It goes without saying that fans have been polarized by this decision. While some are irked that a “Code Geass” Season 3 is not coming, others are simply happy that they’ll be visiting the story of Lelouch and the rest of the characters. Director Goro Taniguchi said that they originally planned for everything to end when the final episode aired. He added that the film is not supposed to collide with the story in the series but rather serves as an alternate storyline for fans to enjoy.
