That’s right, folks. “Code Geass” Season 3 is going to be a movie after all, and it’s titled “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection.” The film is scheduled to come out on Feb. 9, 2019, and fans of the original series may see some familiar faces voiced by their original voice actors.
As seen in the trailer for “Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection,” Suzaku Kururugi is going to appear as Zero and Takahiro Sakurai will be voicing him once again. C.C. (voiced by Yukana Nogami) is in the film as well and she was briefly seen firing a gun at someone. Nunnally Lamperouge (Kaori Nazuka) simply looks terrified for some reason in the trailer.
Aside from those three, Lelouch’s (Jun Fukuyama) presence in the film has been confirmed as well and news of his involvement should raise more than a few eyebrows because he’s supposed to be dead after the events of “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2.”
Well, there’s a good explanation for his appearance in what would have been “Code Geass” Season 3. “Lelouch of the Re;surrection” will actually take place in the alternate timeline introduced in the three recap films in 2017, so Lelouch is still at large in the upcoming movie.
“Lelouch will come back to the series, and its creator stressed the lead would be alive,” ComicBook.com’s Megan Peters said.
“This third installment will follow after Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. However, it will use the anime’s recent reimagining of the second season; Over the last year or so, Code Geass has released a slew of recap films which detail its story, and the final movie made a few tweaks to season two which will pave the way for this new project.”
Now that fans know “Code Geass” Season 3 isn’t coming, they can now divert their attention to Lelouch of the Re;surrection.
