“Cobra Kai” season 2 will return and expand the center of its story: the rivalry between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). The former seems more dedicated than ever to win and promises to defeat the Cobra Kai. Meanwhile, fans should expect to see some new faces in the upcoming episodes.
Johnny faces a new threat to the Cobra Kai as Daniel opens his karate dojo with a very meaningful name Miyagi-Do. The first season revolved around Daniel’s struggle of facing life and continuing the art of karate without Mr. Miyagi, his life-long mentor, gone. He was able to pick up the pace later on leading to the opening of Miyagi-Do in “Cobra Kai” season 2.
The “Cobra Kai” season 2 trailer shows Johnny seemingly threatened as he watches a promo video for Miyagi-Do. He has every reason to be concerned as Daniel announces Miyagi-Do will not charge any fees to its students through a very catchy tagline, “In Miyagi-Do, it’s not about the money. It’s about the karate.” Johnny is later seen confronting Daniel, but the latter does not look bothered and even tells his rival, “You’re in for a real awakening.”
Later in the trailer, Daniel’s main purpose in “Cobra Kai” season 2 is reiterated as he declares to his wife, “I know how to beat Cobra Kai. I did it thirty years ago. I can do it again.” While the promo video is mostly serious highlighting the rivalry, it is not without some laid-back moments. Johnny attempts to also film an ad for Cobra Kai and tells one of his students that their staple snake logo needs to “pop” in the end.
The opening of Miyagi-Do paves the way to introduce several new characters. At one point in the trailer, Daniel is seen practicing with at least eight students in their very zen backyard. “Cobra Kai” season 2 is slated to premiere on April 24 on YouTube Premium.
