CHICAGO, Sept. 25, 2017 -- CleanSpace Technology, a global manufacturer of powered air purifying respiratory protection, today opened its Online Welding Respiratory Safety Resource Center, a resource to educate organizations on the respiratory hazards of welding, key considerations for respiratory protection and the best respirator equipment options. According to the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), there are an estimated 11 million welders and an additional 110 million workers that incur welding-related exposures including fumes and co-exposures to asbestos and solvents that can cause cancer.
“Welding fumes are produced when metals heated above their melting point vaporize and condense to fine particles,” stated Alex Birrell, CEO at CleanSpace Technology. “In May 2017, the World Health Organization and IARC reclassified welding fumes to a Group 1, known carcinogen. Businesses with welding operations and welding contractors should assess their controls and respiratory programs. The goal of our resource center is to increase awareness of the hazards and inform safety officers and workers the appropriate measures for prevention.”
The CleanSpace Welding Respiratory Safety Resource Center offers:
- Comprehensive research data from the World Health Organization (WHO) and research from the IARC
- Key factors to consider when evaluating respiratory protection
- Videos
- Welding user cases
- Information about respiratory protection options
CleanSpace will be demonstrating its CleanSpace2 Powered Respirator at the National Safety Congress & Expo September 25 – 27, 2017 at booth #4952 and at FABTECH November 6 – 9, 2017 at booth #23105.
