“Batting for Better Days,” presented by Chicago-based Footprints to Recovery, will be held on Sunday, September 24, at Guaranteed Rate Field when the White Sox take on the Kansas City Royals at 1:10 p.m.
The event will include an on-field ceremony during which select individuals will be recognized for their unrivaled dedication to standing up against addiction, bringing resources and help to those most in need, working 24/7 to get individuals off the streets and providing hope where there is often none. The ceremony also will include Footprints to Recovery CEO Hirsch Chinn presenting a check to Chicago White Sox Charities to support their healthy families efforts.
The event will help bring attention to resources for those in need, drawing attention to clinical screenings that are offered by Footprints to Recovery. For information about addiction, support services and free clinical screenings, visit FootprintstoRecovery.com.
“The White Sox have had a long-standing passion for encouraging healthy families and raising awareness for support services for children and families in crises,” said Christine O’Reilly, White Sox vice president of community relations. “We are proud to partner with Footprints to Recovery to spread the word for families in our community facing these challenges and to support organizations best equipped to serve as a resource for them.”
“Footprints to Recovery is proud to bring awareness to the epidemic and the great work being done to fight it by partnering with the Chicago White Sox to address substance abuse and addiction in Chicago where immediate help is desperately needed,” said Eliott Wolbrom, chief marketing officer of Footprints to Recovery. “The Chicago White Sox are a first-rate organization with a tremendous and passionate fan base. It is our goal to break the stigma associated with substance abuse and to bring our world-class recovery solutions to the forefront with the message that there are better days ahead.”
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets for the game at whitesox.com/footprints. A portion of each ticket sold at this dedicated site will be donated to the Footprints to Recovery Scholarship Fund, which provides financial support and treatment for individuals struggling with addiction.

About the Chicago White Sox
Since established in 1901, the Chicago White Sox storied history has included three World Series Championships, including the 2005 title that brought Chicago its first title in 88 years; nearly 40 members inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York; and iconic eras of baseball like the “Go Go Sox” and “South Side Hitmen.” The organization set the stage for in-game entertainment that has become common in the present sports industry, including the first All-Star Game, the exploding scoreboard, the “first throwback game” and the first use of names on the back of jerseys. Through its Chicago White Sox Charities, the team has become a pillar of support for the Chicagoland community by providing annual financial, in-kind and emotional support to hundreds of Chicago-based organizations. Contributions in 2016 moved the team’s non-profit arm to more than $25 million in cumulative giving since its inception in 1990. The team is owned by Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf and plays at Guaranteed Rate Field. For more information, please visit whitesox.com.
