Oak Brook, Ill., Dec. 04, 2017 -- The Chamberlain Group, Inc. (CGI), a leader in garage door opener and access control solutions, filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Nortek Security & Control LLC (NSC) on Thursday, November 30, 2017. The asserted patents are:

- U.S. Patent No. 8,587,404 – issued November 19, 2013, the ’404 patent improves the safe operation of movable barriers;
- U.S. Patent No. 7,755,223 – issued January 13, 2010, the ’223 patent makes movable barrier systems more energy-efficient; and
- U.S. Patent No. 6,741,052 – issued May 25, 2004, the ’052 patent provides for a safe and effective force threshold for operation of a movable barrier system.
A recognized pioneer in this industry, CGI’s patent lawsuit seeks to protect fundamental intellectual property that makes garage door openers and other movable barrier systems both safer and more efficient. “CGI consistently innovates in the entry systems market and is committed to vigorously defending its intellectual property,” said JoAnna Sohovich, CGI’s CEO. The complaint was filed in United States District Court in San Diego, California.
