Can MIT, Stanford's Unit-e Dethrone King of Cryptocurrency-Avenue?

From Big 4 auditing firms to the Ivy leagues, and almost all the major central banks of advanced economies have been investing in R&D projects to study blockchain and cryptocurrency gamut.

It is quite known that Fintech has been one of the swiftly growing sectors. Fintech space symbolizes the progressive enterprises that leverage cutting edge technology to bring-in friendly financial products and solutions that are quite far more agile and pioneering compared to traditional financial institutions.

Ivy leagues, such as Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley, Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Edinburg Napier University etc have been exploring the prospects of this industry. 

Distributed Technology Research (DTR), which is a new non-profit organization coupled with a hedge fund powerhouse, Pantera Capital, has been set out to build a digital asset.

Some troop of faculties of the aforementioned best universities of the U.S. has established DTR ecosystem. This ecosystem has been a foundation and unveiled Unit-e to address shortcomings and to improve the flaws offered by the pioneer cryptocurrency (bitcoin). But whether this attempt can dethrone the emperor of crypto-avenue or not is yet to be seen in the days to come. 

The optimism of this attempt (new Unit-e digital asset) is lingering, that seems to be finishing transactions swiftly as comparative to Visa, posting up to 10,000 transactions per second (TPS). Visa currently averages about 1,700 TPS, while bitcoin only averages between 3.3 and 7 TPS. Furthermore, DTR appears to unveil the new assets in Q3 or Q4 of 2019. 

Joey Krug, the co-chief investment officer at Pantera and DTR council member thinks that the major hindrance for cryptocurrency adoption is the lack of scalability, as reported by Bloomberg.
