Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Will Reportedly Feature No Multiplayer Mode

Modern Call of Duty games and multiplayer mode come hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly. Since the launch of COD 4: Modern Warfare, being able to play with others online has been a mainstay in the franchise. According to rumors, however, a remastered version of the critically-acclaimed COD: Modern Warfare 2 is in the works but it will not have this feature.

These rumors started when a listing on the Italian website by Amazon went up around a week ago, indicating that Modern Warfare 2 remastered would be released in Spring of this year, Forbes reports. At the time, the details were still sparse and putting up fake listings can be done fairly easily, so it was largely ignored.

Now, however, new information comes via charlieINTEL, which has proven to be a reliable source of insider details in the past. Apparently, there is some merit to the rumors about the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 remaster but it comes with a rather significant caveat.

“The information states Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered does not have a multiplayer mode; it is a campaign only remaster, according to the material charlieINTEL was sent. We believe this information to be accurate,” the site writes.

Eurogamer also posted their own article on the matter, citing unnamed sources who confirmed that both the upcoming remaster and the bit about the absence of multiplayer are both real. Both publications have marked the omission as a curious choice on the part of the developers since multiplayer is one of the biggest selling points of COD games.

The previous Modern Warfare Remastered title came with multiplayer and that one sold like hotcakes. It will be interesting to see how fans will react to this development if it even ends up being true. Could a COD game survive without multiplayer? Only time will tell.
