The Consumer Electronics Show is the single biggest event of its kind in the U.S. and the 2017 conference is about to come to Las Vegas. This year’s event is expected to host many of the most promising consumer technologies in the works, but the ones that are expected to have the biggest presence are those that fall under the robot and car categories.
The 2016 CES was a huge hit, showcasing a lot of consumer technologies by Amazon, in particular, USA Today reports. As such, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise for the American retail giant to bring in the same level of participation for this year, as well. Then again, it’s not the only company that intends to shine.
Several companies will be displaying their respective attempts at creating robotic products, including LG. Many of them will be socially adaptive prototypes, which are basically machines that are meant to be as humanlike as possible from the movements to the facial expressions. Others will come in the form of smart assistants, which Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Facebook are all working hard towards creating.
One of the most interesting prospects in the field of consumer robotics to joins the CES would be Hanson Robotics, CNET reports. The company specializes in creating realistic examples of humanoid machines to practically creepy levels thanks in part to the responsive, synthetic skin that it is calling “frubber.”
On that note, it’s also expected that Honda, Nissan, and even Hyundai will take this opportunity to showcase new car models that will be equipped with next-generation sensors and gadgetries for drivers of the future. Without a doubt, autonomous technologies will also be center stage during the conference thanks to its prominent role in the future of the auto industry.
Finally, there is the newest caste of smart television units from companies like Samsung, Sony, and LG. Next generation 4K resolution will definitely be front and center, along with connected technologies, and smart assistant integration.
