Albany, NY, Sept. 06, 2017 -- It’s easy to find a great deal on a vehicle or vacation, but the cost of many health care services remains a mystery. CDPHP wants to change that and has launched CDPHP Price Check, a new cost estimator service that gives members more planning power when it comes to health care expenses.

This fall, CDPHP Price Check will be available at no-cost to all CDPHP members enrolled in high-deductible health plans. CDPHP Price Check creates cost transparency by giving members estimated costs on a range of health care services before they choose a doctor. Simply call a dedicated phone line and a CDPHP representative will provide a cost estimate based on the type of service and location.
“Our members deserve access to information that allows them to make the most informed health care decisions,” said CDPHP president and CEO, Dr. John Bennett. “CDPHP Price Check does just that, arming consumers with the information they need to take control of their health care expenses,” added Dr. Bennett.
CDPHP Price Check will provide members with price information on a variety of health care services:
- Carpal Tunnel Release
- Cataract Removal
- Cesarean Section
- CT Scan Abdomen and/or Pelvis
- CT Scan Chest
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Gall Bladder Removal (outpatient) – Cholecystectomy
- Inguinal Hernia Repair
- MRI Arm Joint (Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist)
- MRI Brain
- MRI Knee
- MRI Lower Back
- MRI Neck
- Tonsil and Adenoid Removal
- Total Hip Replacement
- Total Knee Replacement
- Upper Endoscopy Procedure
- Vaginal Delivery
- Vasectomy
The recent rise in high-deductible health plans has put consumers in the driver’s seat when it comes to health care decision-making. According the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 40 percent of Americans between the ages of 18 to 64 is enrolled in a high-deductible health plan.
CDPHP Price Check is seen as the first iteration of price transparency at the Albany-based health plan, which is actively working to develop new technologies that will allow all members the ability to access price transparency information. Stay tuned!
