CAD review: Western Union

  • Canada's smaller than expected loss of jobs last month coupled with another subdued U.S. inflation report helped the loonie pare declines. 

  • Canada shed 1,000 workers in February, less than the loss of 5,000 that was expected. But unemployment rose more than expected to 6.8 percent from 6.6 percent. More participated in the workforce, a good thing, but wage growth moderated.
  • The mixed nature of the jobs report so far hasn't proven a catalyst to take the loonie out of its range.
