Allies of the United Kingdom, namely the United States have warned against Brexit, calling an exit would benefit aggressive Russia and assertive China in global politics, which means, as if China would like Britain to leave the European Union.
On the contrary, China would definitely want Britain, to stay within the EU.
Why?
European Union is the biggest single market in the world with an economy bigger than the United States and for years, China has hoped that Britain, which has more favorable attitude towards it, will act as a bridge.
China has asked for Britain’s expertise to develop its financial markets, whereas Britain has taken up initiatives to support China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). China has also invested in many projects such as nuclear reactors in the UK. China sees Britain as its ticket to the European Union, where many members are skeptical or hostile towards China.
If Britain is to exit the European Union, China will find it increasingly difficult to find a partner within Europe, led by France and Germany.
There are no countries in Europe, who are leaned towards China as much Britain and technologically as much advance.
China’s territorial ambition doesn’t reach far beyond Asia but its Economic ambition would suffer a major setback in such a case. So, it is more likely that China would cry if UK leaves EU.
