The two young ninjas of Hidden Leaf are seen holding swords and preparing to fight each other in the brief promo video for “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 89. This is all the work of Kirara’s genjutsu.
Kirara’s ability is a sort of a mind-controlling power. She can make her opponents do whatever she imagines just by looking them in the eyes. This explains how Sarada and Boruto are going into a deathmatch against their will in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 89.
Even among her allies, Kirara is looked up to for her abilities and for the fact that they deem her powers cannot be stopped by anyone. So, the question for “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 89 is who can distract her from executing her genjutsu and ultimately save Sarada and Boruto?

This theory is logical considering the proximity between Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki. And it would also make for a good plot to reiterate that, at the end of the day, Team 7 members still got each other’s back.
