“Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66, titled “My Story,” might give fans an idea of what the young ninja’s plans for the future are. Meanwhile, a video teaser suggests that Boruto is not very keen on becoming a future Hokage unlike how Naruto was at his age.
Following an intense battle with Momoshiki, the “My Story” episode seems a relatively relax installment. The preview to “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66 was uploaded on the Da Swag YouTube channel on Thursday after a very intense fight sequence in episode 65.
The trailer for “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66 begins with Shikamaru and Sasuke inside Naruto’s office. Shikamaru comments, “In any case, Boruto is amazing.” Sasuke then replies that it is just what he expects from the young ninja. Sasuke notes that, after all, Boruto is the grandson of the Fourth Hokage and the son of Naruto, the Seventh and the current Hokage.
Then the teaser cuts to a scene where Sasuke asks Boruto if he has really decided not to pursue the same legacy as his father and grandfather. In “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66, Boruto declares that becoming the leader of the nation of Konoha is just one possibility for him in the future.
Boruto insists that Naruto's Hokage status should not necessarily mean that he must pursue the same path. Throughout the franchise, fans have seen several instances where the father and son did not meet eye to eye. While no further disagreements are seen, based on the “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66 teaser, fans may be seeing Boruto becoming his own man with unique plans for the future.
Meanwhile, episode 65 aired this week and it was exactly the top-level installment that many fans expected. To recap, it featured the fusion of Naruto and Sasuke that helped weaken Momoshiki.
Ultimately, it was Boruto that really saved the day after attacking Momoshiki with his Rasengan that was combined with Naruto’s chakra. Momoshiki was defeated. But before episode 65 ended, his spirit told Boruto that the young ninja inherited many powers from the Otsutsuki clan.
Whether or not Momoshiki’s statements contributed Boruto's unsettled perspective about the future might be tackled in “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66. Luckily, fans will not have to experience another week of delay. “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” episode 66 is slated to air on July 26.
