NORWOOD, Mass., Sept. 06, 2017 -- Blue Hills Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ:BHBK) announced that its Board of Directors voted to increase the regular quarterly cash dividend to $0.15 per share from $0.05 per share. The dividend will be payable on October 4, 2017 to stockholders of record as of September 20, 2017.
William Parent, President and Chief Executive Officer of Blue Hills Bancorp, said, “The decision to triple our regular quarterly cash dividend was taken after a careful review of the options available to us for deploying what continues to be a significant amount of excess capital. Due to the improvement in our stock valuation we have not repurchased any shares in 2017 and increasing the dividend provides the most prudent course of action for returning capital to our shareholders at this time, while providing them with an attractive yield on their investment. We also view a new dividend level as an expression of the confidence we have in our core earnings stream, which has noticeably improved since our mutual to stock conversion a little over three years ago. As we move forward, we will seek to deploy excess capital through organic growth and dividend payments while continuing to evaluate stock buybacks and acquisition opportunities in a disciplined manner.”
