“Blue Bloods” season 9 is airing very soon, and as the air date comes close, more details about the show are revealed. In the most recent update, it was the drama’s lead star, Tom Selleck, who shared some information about what to expect when they come back.
It appears that “Blue Bloods” season 9 will steer away a bit from too much police drama and will focus on the Reagan family this time. With this big reveal, the end of season 8 now makes sense.
Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) and Eddie Janko’s (Vanessa Ray) engagement is the starting point of the plot for “Blue Bloods” season 9. It became more apparent that as the next season moves to the next scenes after the engagement, it is likely to be followed by some family drama.
Tom Selleck, who will still lead “Blue Bloods” season 9, divulged that his character, Frank Reagan, will make it clear that he does not want family matters and police business to mix. This was why he and son Jamie will have an invisible friction since the younger Reagan would insist that he should work alongside his fiancee as his partner.
"Frank doesn’t want Jamie to be the first in NYPD history to ride with their fiancée. Most cops would say it could affect one’s judgment,” Tom Selleck told TV Insider. “Frank wants his son to be happy, and yet he’s got this hyperactive sense of responsibility. He already lost one son in the line of duty."
In connection to this storyline, it was added that “Blue Bloods” season 9 is set to premiere with Jamie Reagan and Eddie Janko fighting for their rights to work together, to remain as partners in the police force. The couple will not care what others think or will say; they want to solve crimes and go after the bad guys together.
Tom Selleck shared that apart from family drama and the matters involving romance, there will also be good news in the career department as D.A. Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) moves up in the legal field. But like the situation with Jamie, Tom teased that they will be “increasingly at odds.”
“Blue Bloods” Filming
Meanwhile, CarterMatt reported that filming for “Blue Bloods” season 9 is taking place in New York City. The first part of the shoot was revealed to be the dinner scene after Jamie and Eddie’s engagement was announced.
“Blue Bloods” season 9 is set to premiere on Sept. 28 at 10 p.m.
