Predicting whether NBC will order “Blindspot” season 5 is quite tricky at the moment. But fans who really want to know ahead of time can check out the show’s latest viewers ratings to speculate what lies in the show’s future.
First, it is important to note that the fourth season of the show is still airing. This makes forecasting the release or cancellation of “Blindspot” season 5 more difficult. But, most of the time, the viewers' ratings dictate the fate of a show.
So to speculate whether “Blindspot” season 5 is happening or not, fans can analyze the available data on season 4 ratings. And it is not quite looking good. According to data aggregator TVSeriesFinale.com, the show is currently averaging a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is a little bit distant from season 3’s 0.61 overall average rating.
An average of 2.802 million viewers saw “Blindspot” season 4 with 13 episodes in. Throughout the current installment, there has been a negative 14.09 percent change in the number of weekly viewers. As mentioned, season 4 might run for 22 episodes so the show might still be able to pull up these numbers. But, so far, these are not looking good for the prospect of having “Blindspot” season 5.
On the other hand, the above-mentioned numbers are not the only factors NBC would consider in deciding whether to order “Blindspot” season 5 or not. For example, the network was able to cut a deal with Warner Bros. to reduce the licensing fee of the series to make sure season 4 will still be profitable.
CarterMatt also pointed out that the series has an ample worldwide following. So all hope is not yet lost for “Blindspot” season 5.
There is currently a two-week break and the series will be back with “Blindspot” season 4 episode 14 on March 8. For some reason, the overall episode count for the season 4 is seemingly not set in stone yet. News sources have listed up to episode 15 for “Blindspot” season 4 but some also indicate that NBC has likely ordered another 22-episode run.
