Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are still going strong after six years of marriage. In fact, it seems that they get even happier as years go by. Many people envy their relationship and they have always been described as “perfect for each other.” So, What makes them click? How can they maintain such an awesome marriage despite being in Hollywood where divorce is like prevalent?
Ryan Reynolds said that his marriage to Blake Lively works because she is a very empathetic person. Humans of New York quoted the “Deadpool” actor as saying,
"She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She'll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old.”
He added, “She made me a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. She made me remember things I didn't want to remember before he died and she made me remember the good times too."
On the other hand, for Blake Lively, she believes that their happy marriage is the result of being friends for a long time before becoming romantically involved. In her radio interview with Entertainment Weekly, she said, "We were such good friends for so long and we both got to know each other as friends so when we were both single, we were still trying to find each other's perfect date.”
"We'd sit around being like, 'Oh jeez, do you know anyone?' And it didn't click for, I mean, a good year and a half. Like, 'Oh hey, wait, hold on. We could date!'"
The actress also mentioned that she has become so comfortable around Ryan Reynolds that she even confides and asks him questions that girls would normally direct to their sisters or girlfriends. Blake Lively simply said that she treats her husband like her girlfriend and he treats her like his best buddy and this may be the reason why they click – they are best of friends.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have two children. They love to hang around in New Orleans because the latter considers the state as his second home.
