Treyarch has now released its newest “Black Ops 4” content, and the community is fuming at what the developers have done. To start things off, Treyarch’s “Heroes vs Villains” theme didn’t resonate well with fans as it’s a completely different route from what’s been done in the franchise.
“Black Ops 4” fans were looking forward to more cinematic cut-scenes for the zombie storyline since the Aether plot will be concluded by this update. Instead, they got a sort of superhero/Avengers trailer with no mention of the Aether team.
And that’s just the tip of it. Diving deeper, the new “Black Ops 4” update also introduced guns but lock it behind an RNG paywall that is frustratingly difficult to obtain. To make matters worse, Treyarch also diluted the loot pool with weapon-specific cammos, charms, and death effects, decreasing the chances of landing a coveted item.
Black Ops 4 recycling content again
What’s more, the new map of “Black Ops 4” offers only a single unique location, while the other one is essentially recycled content. The team didn’t even mention diamond unlocking issues that have been pissing some of the players off. To top it off, all of these are made exclusively for the PlayStation 4, with the new content hitting other platforms in about a month or so if Treyarch’s previous pattern is any indication, PCGamer reported.
In recent weeks, the “Black Ops 4” team has made some effort in listening to the community, leading some to speculate that Treyarch may actually be shifting gears towards the positive. But this update just proves that it wants to squeeze the last drop of money out of its player base as the new “Modern Warfare” game will be coming out next month. Heck, some aren’t even that impressed with “Modern Warfare” too.
Black Ops 4 is now in its final life cycle
At this point, Treyarch may have slammed the final nail in the coffin of “Black Ops 4.” It can even be argued that the “Dark Divide” may have hurt the franchise as a whole, not just “Black Ops 4.”
The game simply didn’t live up to both the fans’ expectations and the promises of the developers that it will last for three years. It didn’t even get to its anniversary before people started declaring it’s a dead game. Sure, there are still some people left but between “Borderlands 3” and “Modern Warfare,” there’s no denying that “Black Ops 4” is now on its last life cycle.
