“Black Clover” episode 116 picks up shortly after the Devil escaped from the palace and left a ravaging Patolli to attack the humans and elves. Asta and Yuno were left to face Patolli, but the former will immediately become worried as he recognizes Patolli’s attack being the same magic that even captain Yami had a hard time fighting.

Just as Asta and Yuno appear to have no chance in neutralizing Patolli, Nozel arrives in “Black Clover” episode 116, commenting that Patolli looks different than the last time they met. Nozel becomes the first help to arrive for Asta and Yuno, and he would appear very confident of his chances to defeat Patolli.

Nozel’s confidence is not unfounded. His magic is best suited to fight the kind of spells that Patolli makes. Nozel uses a combination of Mercury Creation Magic and Silver Star Execution to trap Patolli, where the elf’s Light Magic will be endlessly reflected back to him, leading to his defeat.
