‘Big Little Lies’ season 1’s episode 6, titled “Burning Love,” is set to follow Jane as she finally confronts Renata. Meanwhile, Madeline and Ed will get into a serious discussion about their passionless marriage.
The synopsis for “Burning Love” posted on TV Guide reads, “Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) worries about Jane (Shailene Woodley) and the can of worms she opened.
Meanwhile, Jane confronts Renata (Laura Dern); Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz) tells Nathan (James Tupper) about Abigail's (Kathryn Newton) secret project; and Ed (Adam Scott) and Madeline have a candid conversation about the lack of passion in their marriage.”
It seems that things are about to intensify in Madeline, Jane, and Celeste’s seemingly perfect suburban world. The women are dealing with their own personal trauma and it seems that things are finally bubbling up to the surface.
In the upcoming episode, Madeline will grow more concerned about the host of new issues she managed to open for Jane while Jane will confront Renata, presumably regarding the conflict and bullying going on between their young children.
During an interview with CBS, Laura Dern talked about her character Renata in the dark comedy and drama television series that premiered on February 2017. The 50-year old award-winning actress gushed about Renata being “incredibly delicious and radically complicated, which are the greatest characters to play.”
Dern portrays a businesswoman and mother to a bullied child. She continued, “I had the privilege of speaking with very interesting CEOs who work in the boardroom among men… They talk about the stereotype of being a powerful woman in business, and therefore it’s presumed that there’s a sexless marriage or they’re not maternal.”
She adds, “And I feel like this woman is holding this pent-up rage all of the years, that she’s trying to denounce this stereotype of herself, that she’s kind of become the bully. And so that’s a lot of fun to consider and play.”
Ed and Madeline will also have some domestic problems of their own as they get serious about the lack of passion in their marriage.
The previous episode, titled "Once Bitten," focused on Celeste’s tumultuous and abusive relationship with husband Perry (Alexander Skarsgard). Perry had admitted to getting too physical with his wife during counseling sessions.
‘Big Little Lies’ season 1’s episode 6, titled “Burning Love,” is expected to air on HBO on March 26, 2017. It will be followed by episode 7, titled "You Get What You Need," scheduled to be released on April 2. The series’ episodes were directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and written by David E. Kelley.
