Beyonce and Jay-Z, a.k.a. The Carters, are slammed with another slew of divorce rumors for the new year. But, are these claims true?
In the latest issue of OK! Magazine, the front page features a photo of Beyonce along with Jessica Alba above the intriguing headline “Two Nasty Billion Dollar Divorces.” The report insists that Beyonce and Jay-Z’s efforts to make things work, such as going to therapy, have been futile. “Bey doesn’t want to waste more time trying to fix something that’s irretrievably broken, and she’d hate for the twins and [7-year-old daughter] Blue to grow up in an unhappy environment,” a source claimed.
OK!’s source added that Beyonce could not get over the rumors of Jay-Z having a child with another woman from a previous affair. “Bey’s done her best to put on a brave face through all of the infidelity reports, but actually having a child with another woman is something no wife could ever get over,” the insider added. But fact-checking news site Gossip Cop calls out the story saying it is reporting nothing but “non-existent marital drama.”
Gossip Cop further explained that the report on Jay-Z’s rumored child was a story that broke in 2015. So, it is unlikely that an old story would spark Beyonce’s decision to dissolve her marriage with the “The Story of O.J.” rapper.
Meanwhile, there are many other factors to prove that the divorce rumor is inaccurate. Beyonce celebrated the New Year’s with Jay-Z and their kids. She even shared a montage on Instagram chronicling the major events the Carters attended as well as their successful projects and concert tours last year. The video is a nod to their now stronger marriage as it slows down from time to time to highlight sentimental clips such as Beyonce and Jay-Z kissing backstage.
Jay-Z and Beyonce did seem to experience a rough patch in their marriage. Fans speculated on the Carters’ marital issues especially after Bey’s “Lemonade” came out in 2016. And Jay-Z might have confirmed that he did cheat on Beyonce in a 2017 interview with the New York Times. “You have to survive. So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode, what happens? You shut down all emotions. … And then all the things happen from there: infidelity,” he told the publication’s executive editor Dean Baquet.
