BOSTON, Sept. 07, 2017 -- Battery Ventures, an investment firm focused on innovation and technology worldwide, has promoted seven team members for their work executing deals in industry sectors ranging from industrial technology to business software, and in geographies spanning the U.S., Europe and Canada.
Zack Smotherman, based in Battery’s Boston office, was promoted to principal. Smotherman has been at Battery since 2013 and focuses on transactions in industrial technology, including in areas such as industrial sensors and test and measurement. He is involved with Battery portfolio companies James Heal; Process Sensing Technologies, a platform company created with Analytical Industries, Michell Instruments and Rotronic; NVT Group, a platform comprising Data Physics, Lansmont Corp. and Team Corp.; and Qognify, a company Battery spun out from NICE Systems’ Physical Security Business Unit two years ago. He was previously an associate at WestView Capital Partners.
In addition, Battery’s Roland Anderson, Sabrina Chiasson and Satoshi Harris-Koizumi, all based in Boston, were promoted to vice president. Anderson, who joined Battery in 2014, focuses on software and Internet investments and is currently involved with Battery companies Newforma, ServiceTitan and Vidyard. He joined Battery from growth-equity firm Symmetric Capital.
Chiasson, who has worked at Battery for two years, focuses on later-stage software investments. Her current stable of companies includes software firms Alogent, Clubessential, Concurrent Real-Time and Enviance. Prior to Battery, Chiasson worked at private equity firm H.I.G. Growth Partners.
Harris-Koizumi also specializes in later-stage deals, primarily software. Since joining Battery as an analyst five years ago, he has been involved with portfolio companies including Clubessential, CrunchTime!, Forterro and Mendix, as well as HighJump before its acquisition by Accellos. Before joining Battery, Harris-Koizumi spent time at North Bridge Growth Equity, now known as Guidepost Growth Equity.
Three other team members were promoted to the role of associate: Brandon Gleklen and Dominic Kallas of Boston, and Adi Dangot Zukovsky of Herzliya, Israel. Zukovsky joined Battery last year, while Gleklen and Kallas have each been at Battery since 2015.
“Our new Principal Zack, and new Vice Presidents Roland, Sabrina and Satoshi, have all excelled at deal sourcing and investment research, and they are working actively with the management teams at many of our companies,” said Scott Tobin, a Battery general partner. “Brandon, Dominic and Adi also have distinguished themselves since coming to Battery. We congratulate all the promoted team members on their new roles and wish them continued success.”
